Protestors were successful in shutting down the airport by preventing travellers from checking in, and harrassing passersby on 12 and 13 August. They even tied up, beat up and imprisoned a mandarin speaking tourist and a reporter for hours, preventing them from getting medical help, all at the HK International Airport under the cameras of the world to see. When they returned on 1 September, chaos ensured.
